IWC Pilot s Watch Chronograph AMG Special Edition
IWC and AMG have been collaborating on AMG Special Editions since 2004, and the most noteworthy feature of the latest edition for 2021 is the transition from the Ingenieur Collection to the Pilot s Watch Collection, which has been actively incorporating new technologies into its watchmaking process in recent years (and which will still be available in a limited number of special editions in 2019). The new model incorporates AMG s racing technology and uses the same titanium alloy as the GT Black Series for the case. The carbon-fibre dial and the carbon-fibre strap with embossed seams further emphasise the cool and calm German super sports car style. The in-house calibre 69385 chronograph movement is assembled independently by the watchmaker, just as each AMG engine is tuned according to the One Man, One Engine principle. Through the Pilot s Watches series, the fascination of AMG racing technology can be fully appreciated. The carbon-fibre dial, including the hands, hour-markers and chronograph counters, is in grey, silver and black, a colour palette similar to that of carbon fibre, which is a common colour scheme for the interiors of AMG supercars. Although the colour scheme does not hinder the reading of time, it is very different from the impression we have of supercar co-branded watches with their high luminance and high contrast, and it presents a cool, calm and steady style of the German supercars.
