Apart from launching a new chronograph movement, Officine Panerai s other focus this year is on eco-friendly recycled materials. That s why the Luminor Marina eSteel watch, PAM01358, made from eco-friendly recycled steel eSteel , symbolises a major step forward in Panerai s quest to reduce the need for raw materials and minimise its environmental impact. Its metal strength and corrosion resistance are the same as those of normal steel, and the fact that it is being produced in mass quantities is even more significant. The Luminor Marina eSteel watch weighs 152.4 grams, of which 89 grams, or 58.4 per cent, is made up of components made from recycled materials. The case and dial are made of eSteel recycled steel alloy. This innovative material overcame many challenges during its development, and as a result eSteel has demonstrated chemical properties, physical structure and corrosion resistance that are no less favourable than those of conventional stainless steel. The eSteel watch features a brushed case with a polished bezel, a rubber-coated crown and a bridge decorated with the eSteel logo. The dial, in Grigio Roccia rock grey, is polished to give a subtle gradation from dark to light and bears the eSteelTM logo, with a special green e to demonstrate the watch s eco-friendly credentials. The Grigio Roccia rock grey strap in the same colour is made of recycled PET resin and comes with a Nero black rubber strap and case.
