Patek Philippe s 2023 programme is packed to the rafters with new creations, many of which will be of particular interest to the brand s sports watch collections such as the Nautilus and the Aquanaut, and it turns out that the Golden Eagle collection has no new additions to make its debut at this year s edition of Geneva Watches Miracles, whereas the Aquanaut collection has been enriched by the addition of three new models for both men and women. The Aquanaut Luce 5261R is the first of three new creations in the collection, and naturally the most highly regarded of the three, as opposed to the 5268/200R-010 and 5968R-001, which are revisions of existing models. 5261R is related to the 5067A, which has a stainless steel case, although it is a newer version of the same watch, with a different case. While the 5067A was a three-handed quartz watch with a stainless steel case and a diamond-set bezel, the 5261R has been given a more luxurious rose gold case, and its function has been advanced to the level of an automatic annual calendar, a profound improvement over the 5067A. PP was the originator of the calendar function in the world of watchmaking, and so whenever it appears in the brand s creations, it always inspires a sense of reverence for the purity of the pedigree of the brand. Patek Philippe s introduction of an annual calendar for the first time to the Aquanaut collection marks a new milestone in the collection s development, with the addition of a handy and practical complication featuring a patented annual calendar that displays the day of the week, the date and the month in full, and which only needs to be adjusted once a year, at the end of February. Patek Philippe is adding to its collection of ladies complication watches with a new model that is not set with gemstones. The rose gold case and bezel have a classic rounded octagonal shape with contrasting polished and satin finishes. The grey-blue dial and the composite strap are decorated with an embossed Aquanaut motif for a sporty and stylish look. The watch is equipped with a self-winding mechanical movement.
