In 1977, the year of Vacheron Constantin s 222nd anniversary, the brand launched the Model 222 steel sports watch, designed by German designer Jorg Hysek, which introduced a new design vocabulary, including a fluted bezel, an integrated bracelet, a one-piece case, and water-resistance to a depth of 120 metres; the 222 was not only a new experiment for Vacheron Constantin, but also a reflection of the boom in the development of fine sports watches at that time.
